One Tentacle Publishing
My partner, Matt Ottley, and I have set up a small publishing house called One Tentacle Publishing, where we aim to:
- give writers and illustrators the creative freedom to produce books in the way they envisage them.
- embrace new ways of publishing, through combining genres, to appeal to diverse audiences.
- To encourage and promote the creation of multi-modal works that bring words, music and art together.
Emerging writer/illustrator picture book series
For our first collaboration we worked closely with author/illustrator Lisa Tiffen to produce a series of quirky children’s picture books that look at the emotional world of children. The first book in the series is “Grumps“, followed by “Lovelies,” “Sorrows,” and “Frights“.
It has been a pleasure mentoring Lisa through the production of these delightful books.
Classic children’s book reprint
Matt Ottley’s classic children’s book, ‘Mrs Millie’s Painting,’ was re-released in May 2019 in both hardcover and softcover versions. Please visit his website to purchase a copy or purchase through One Tentacle Publishing. We have also made some limited edition prints available.
Science, poetry, philosophy and fine art book
In July 2021 we released author Nicholas Bennett’s book, The Dying Alchemists – Reflections on existince. Melding science, philosophy, poetry and art this book is an insightful exploration of scientific ideas, discoveries and how these relate to humanity and to us as individuals. It was a pleasure for me to both design and illustrate it.
